Finishes

Steel resourced and hand-crafted in the USA by local artisans in North Carolina. Every piece is cut, grinded and brushed/polished "one at a time". We do not support the Bio-hazardous waste and emissions caused by chrome plating and use ONLY recycled, domestic heavy gauge steels. Our facility is closely monitored and does not release any negative emissions, only steam.

Exposed Woods resourced, hand crafted and hand finished in the USA by local artisans in North Carolina. We use ONLY sustainable hardwoods that are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), Appalachian Hardwoods Manufacturing Inc. (AHMI) and/or the Sustainable Forest Initiative (SFI). Water based dyes are used in the finishing process (not petroleum or chemically based dyes) which are safe for our employees, biodegradable and do not release post-consumer Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC's).

Frames (wood) frame parts are certified by (one of or all) The Sustainable Forest Initiative (SFI), Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), Appalachian Hardwood Association Inc. (AHMI).

- frame padding materials are comprised of 100% recycled polyester fibers.
- springs, metal bases and sleeper mechanisms consist of (at least) 90% recycled steel and are lead free.
- all "run off" (scrap) is recycled or re-used and nothing goes to waste.
- wood glues are water based and unlike chemical or petroleum based glues, do not

Sustainability

We are committed to producing an environmentally aware product. A great deal of time, resources and research is spent seeking the latest sustainable materials.  We will be honest and upfront with the impact that our fabrics, wood, steel, and other resources have on OUR world. We promise to continue this exploration of new and innovative ways in which we can support the eco-conscious lifestyle.  You can expect us to be relentless in this pursuit! Return to previous page.
